Learning Week on Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance 2026
The World Bank Group (WBG) and Insurance Development Forum (IDF) are co-hosting the third "Learning Week on Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance". Tagged as a WBG Impact Program, the learning week will bring together 40+ government delegates from 17 countries to engage with 70+ private sector and public sector partners on innovations in disaster risk finance and insurance solutions to narrow the global protection gap.
The themes of the invite-only event are as follows:
Country Day - Peer-to-Peer exchange: A day for countries to share their experience on the design and implementation of disaster risk finance and insurance programs.
Knowledge Day - DRF Stakeholders: Focused on creating a stronger understanding on the different stakeholders in the (re) insurance industry; learning more about innovative ways to design products in data-scarce environments; learning about solutions that integrate DRF and longer-term resilience measures.
Private Sector Day - IDF Summit: Targeted discussions with partners around how to address protection gaps by designing robust insurance solutions that leverage local and global data, solutions that enable more effective investment in infrastructure, and also strengthening the capacities of domestic insurance markets to offer better and bespoke solutions to address client needs on NatCat risks.
